My Deliverer

We often look to other things, especially people, to help deliver us when we fall into trouble.  God, however, should be the One we look to for help FIRST.  Even with the small things - like my eating or a troubled friendship - He is there!  Because we can run to Him with the small things, how much more the big things - like a safe pregnancy and devilvery.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever more.
Psalm 121:5-8

Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
Psalm 17:7-8

Through God we will do valiantly,
And it is He who shall tread down our adversaries.
Psalm 108:13

God's strong name is our help,
The same God who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:8

I Will Not Be Afraid

I tried to think of what I was of afraid of - and I think failure might be one of the top things on my list.  I am afraid of failing in life - with my husband, my sons, my walk with God, my eating habits.  But one thing I read recently struck me: "Failure is something you do, not something you are."  I liked that, because it acknowledges that we do sometimes fail, but it doesn't define who we are.  But I still hate and deep down am fearful of failing.  Yet, I have that safty net - God's grace!  The more times I fail, the more times I see His abundant grace.  Is that liscense to fail though?  No, it is the freedom to rely on Him, moment by moment - and rely on His power, provision, protection, and providence.

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountians be carried
into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Psalm 46:1-3

Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me;
all day long they press their attack.
My slanderers pursue me all day long;
many are attcking me in their pride.
When I am afraid,
I will trust in You,
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me?
Psalm 56:1-4

Hear My Prayer

O Lord, there are many prayers that I pray during the day.  manya re a quick, "Help me with this or that."  And then there are those prayers that if I wrote all my words and my feeligns it would be a movel!  O Lord!  I want to thank You that You hear both types of prayers.  I want my prayers to be a connection between You and me.  I want them to draw me to You.  Guide me then I pray - help me to ask for the right things adn to seek You more.  Amen.

Hear my pryaer, O Lord God Almighty: listen to me, O God of Jacob, Look upon our shiled, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.  Ps. 84:8-9

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distres; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.  Ps. 4:1

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.  Sing praises to the Lord who reigns in Jerusalem.  Tell the world about His unforgettable deeds....He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer.  Ps. 9:9-12
