So we are going to Ecuador in just 2 days. I'm feeling very overwhelmed....but I'm sure everything will fall into place. I'm going to visit my good friend Beth. She is getting married later this summer, but we can't go down for the wedding. So, we are going down this month. We are only staying 10 days. I'm pretty excited. I've always wanted to go and visit her. She's been teaching in this misisonary school for 3 years. There is a clinic that Jason will work at, and I'll be helping her finish up her last few days of school. We debated for quite a while whether to take the baby or not, but in the end he is going with us. Three months ago when we bought the tickets, we didn't think he needed a seat. We thought, "Yeah, we can hold him on our lap." Ok, he was like 9 mon. at the time. Now....well...a one year old doesn't really sit in your lap!? So, the flight will be interesting. I think it will be such a new experience for him, that he'll behave at first. When the novelty wears off...well, we'll see.
A lot of people ask why we are going...one person in particular point-blank asked if it was a "survey" trip. Well....yes! We know the Lord is calling us to be involved very much in missions. We don't know where, how, or when. But we want to be willing to go if He leads us. We want to visit different places to see where we might like to live...raise a family....that sort of thing. So, Ecuador is our first stop! I don't think it will be the last place we visit, but because I had such a good connection (Beth!) we decided to make a trip out of it. I think the next trip we want to take will be more on the lines of a medical mission's trip (more intense probably) for Jason. We'll see.
So that's it in a nutshell. I won't be around for the next 10+ days. But you will sure hear from me when we get back!
Now...off to packing!
