The Lord Gives Me Strength and a Song

Psalm 118:1-8, 10, 14

1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
2 Let Israel now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the LORD now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
5 I called on the LORD in distress;
The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.
6 The LORD is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
7 The LORD is for me among those who help me;
Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.
10 All nations surrounded me,
But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
14 The LORD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.

I was moved recently by a songwriter's testimony and his new CD. He lost his 6-year-old girl last year to a accident and now sings songs of hope. If anyone knows of heartache and pain, he would. If anyone had the right to question God's love - He did. Instead, he chose to show God's love by showing the strength and hope that God gives during a difficult time. I have never had such a tragedy happen to me, but my heart is comforted and given hope that if I ever did, God would be there just the same for me.

Here is one of his songs:

Our God is in Control by Steven Curtis Chapman

This is not how it should be
This is not how it could be
This is how it is
And our God is in control

This is not how it will be
When we finally will see
We'll see with our own eyes
He was always in control

And we'll sing holy, holy, holy is our God
And we will finally really understand what it means
So we'll sing holy, holy, holy is our God

While we're waiting for that day
This is not where we planned to be
When we started this journey
But this is where we are
And our God is in control

Though this first taste is bitter
There will be sweetness forever
When we finally taste and see
That our God is in control

And we'll sing holy, holy, holy is our God
And we will finally really understand what it means
So we'll sing holy, holy, holy is our God
