Abide in Christ: The Twenty-Seventh Day

Abide in Christ
by Andrew Murray
 That you may not sin
"In Him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not." - I John 3:5-6
"When the abiding in Christ becomes close and unbroken, so that the soul lives from moment to moment in the perfect union with the Lord its keeper, He does indeed, keep down the power of the old nature, so that it does not regain dominion over the soul."

It is daunting to think of "not sinning," for any period of time.  Let it not be so.  We have power of sin!  That means that we can choose not to sin.  We need not worry about trying not to sin for a whole day, weeks, months, or years.  We need only abide in the moment.  When we abide in the moment, Christ enables us to be sin-free.  We need only not sin in this moment.  Do not worry about any additional moments, but the moment you are in.  Continual abiding will free us from the power of sin.

Lord, forgive me for my past mistakes. Let me walk with You, in close communion - so that I can overcome sin in my life.  Amen.
